Lets try this again.

Alright, I am going to give this whole blogging things another go. I think I have read enough blogs to maybe be able to attempt one myself, so here we go.

Lets play a bit of catch up. I will post new pictures of how everything is now, but for now I will post a few of the in between photos.

I finished painting the red in the dining room:

That picture was taken before all the coats of paint were done and before all the furniture was moved back in (obviously). There is still no chair rail installed but we did hang up curtains that look really nice. (if only they didn't have to be tied up thanks to the very sharp baby kitten claws-only one more week till they are gone (the claws, not the kittens))

I am severely lacking pictures of things that have been going on around here, but I am working on it. Last week I painted the kitchen, well, I painted most of the kitchen. It is about 3/4 the way done, I just need to do above and below the cabinets. The guy at Lowe's sold me paint made for kitchens/baths and said it would match the rest of my satin finish paint I have in the house. LIES. It is shiny and I dislike it. A lot. I guess I will just have to learn to deal with it. I also attempted to make a magnetic wall using the magnetic paint, but so far I am not loving it. I put on three coats just like the instructions said to, but most magnets will not stay on it. Very disappointing.

Our family room walls have decided to crack horribly. It started on just one wall, but now it has spread from floor to ceiling on the one wall, across the ceiling and has come down the other wall. It is awful. We had someone come look at it and he thinks it is not too serious. He gave us a good quote to repair it, so that will probably be happing in January.

The office/craft room finally got painted and it is fabulous. I cannot find a decent picture of it so imagine it as an awesome teal/blue color. I will post a picture of the awesomeness soon.

I will update soon about all the new things and projects going on around here!

More fun with crafts

I have been wanting to make a ribbon board for a long time but never got around to making one. I had some free time this weekend so I decided to try it out!
Supplies:
For my office at work:
For the kitchen:
This project was so much fun! For the first one I was using a miniature stapler and it wasn't going so well. When it came time to put the ribbon on, the mini stapler wasn't cutting it. I went and borrowed a staple gun from my mother and it made things 100thousand times easier! The second one came together in 1/2 the time of the first thanks to the staple gun. Unfortunately the one for the kitchen is too big to put in the spot I was imagining, but hopefully I can find a different place for it.

Finally....

...we painted the dining room. I have been talking about it for WEEKS and not doing it. I am so glad it is (mostly) done. The room will be getting a chair rail and the wall under the rail will be painted a deep red. I am so excited. The cream turned out a bit more white than, cream, but I like it. You cannot tell much of a difference in the pictures, but it looks pretty =]

It looks really nice in person and I absolutely cannot wait to paint the red. Before I can do the red we must paint the office so we can actually start unpacking. The office is going to be painted a really bright blue, but a very specific blue that I am SO excited about!

Crafty!

This was the first of many crafty projects for the house:

Before:

After:
I found this little treasure at Goodwill on Senior day, so with my mother in tow, I got it for $2! It was my first experience with spray painting, it was fun! I think it turned out well and it was exactly what I was looking for.

Picture updates!

GOLDFISH POND! This is half the reason I wanted this house. I am mostly kidding. I love that the front porch has a flower garden and a pond.

I have to admit, I thoroughly enjoy my "bucket of sticks".
Ooooh, shiny =]
Gorgeous dining room set.

Family room walls post painting. The color turned out amazing. It looks like melted chocolate ice cream.
Bedroom set with awesome zebra sheets.

Since I had lost my camera charger, these are all the updated pictures I have. The amazing dbf found my camera charger yesterday! So, once we actually make some more progress on the house pictures shall come!
